Who can have an NHS Blood Pressure Check?
- People aged 40 or over who are not having regular blood pressure checks at their GP practice
- People aged 40 or over who have not already been diagnosed with high blood pressure
- People aged 35 to 39 who have not had a recent blood pressure check, where the pharmacist considers the service appropriate
- People under 40 with a recognised family history of high blood pressure, where appropriate
- Patients whose GP has asked them to visit a pharmacy for a blood pressure check
What does the service provide?
- A free NHS consultation with your pharmacist
- A blood pressure check and pulse check
- Healthy lifestyle advice to support blood pressure control
- A more detailed blood pressure assessment if your reading is raised
- A 24-hour blood pressure monitor loan where appropriate, with guidance on how to use it
- Advice to see your GP if your blood pressure is extremely high
